I was in Mecca and I looked around the people going there. Many of them displaying a lot more emotions than I can ever muster.
So much hope, so much relief, so much happiness that they've arrived to such a significant place. I stood there looking, wondering and envying. How does it feel to feel so much?
Then I got worried and asked for a new heart. This one's probably dead or numb.
I Saw It That Way
you have fun, i have fun.

Poor Rich People
If your parents were making more than MYR 150k per month, would you go apply for scholarships to further your studies? I wouldn't. With that much money we'd probably be giving out scholarships instead. haha.
We had a few applicants with parents making more than 90k per month. Some of the kids that didn't pass the shortlisting phase were from single parents making less than 1k per month. Reasons vary, it could be that one of their subjects didn't meet the high requirements or they didn't have any positions in school clubs or just simply wasn't able to finish the online applications for some reason.
I am just wondering why would anybody making that much money would even bother. : /

Not Blindly
There are some parts in our religion which we are allowed to follow blindly. Such as the how-to of daily prayer, invocations and religious rulings. Everyone is not expected to be a scholar and master jurist. So we are allowed to trust in a scholar and just follow what is taught.
Some part of the religion you must know as in *know*. Such as belief. You must question. You must ask. You must open up to see. You serve a Lord so know Him for He wishes to be known.
And besides, how can you love if you do not know? and He is of higher power so it is in His terms you must serve and love Him. Not on yours. It must be by His rules.
So know Him. and when you have questions about Him, you must find the answers. Do not let your heart dwell in doubt. Find those answers, brothers and sisters. Find them!

Sons of Fortune
I was back at my parent's place rummaging through my stuffs in my brother's room when I saw his Jeffrey Archer's novel. I haven't been reading any novel for quite some time and decided to novelnap that. I whisked it away in my bag and spent about 5 days on the book.
I have never timed how long it takes for me to read so I guess it's good to know that I can finish a book in 5 days without affecting other parts of my life... much.
It's about a twin who got ... badabum badabim... got separated after birth like some Indonesian sinetron. One raised by a rich family and the other one with their parents, the middle class awesomeness. They never found out about their relationship (oh I forgot to mention they don't look the same) until much later in their life. Total sinetron stuff there.
What surprised me was that when they found out they were brothers, they decided to tell the doctor to destroy the evidences and kept the knowledge to themselves. Our family values are kind of different and by religious view, we have to make it known. So it is rather odd for me.

Anyway, the reasoning they gave was that the parents are already old (80years plus) and finding out something like that would just shake them. One side will find out the son they thought died is alive and well, and the other one would've felt like they have lost a son.
So what about you? Think you'd tell your ma n pa if you're in their shoes?

The Warning
My colleague sent me an sms warning me that my boss just called him asking what I'm working on.
The problem is that he accidentally sent it to my boss first.

Empathy
It's trying to recognize and to some degrees feel the same thing another person or being is feeling. This is something of THE definition and if you find another good one, do keep it to yourself because this one is awesome enough for me.
My tip on empathy is to try feel what the person talking and not that of a tree. Unless if you're a Buddhist monk which having a straight poker face seems to mean you have reach a a high state of enlightenment. Do correct me if I'm wrong, my reference on other religion are usually movies.
The sad part of empathy is that you might have a lot of it for other people but others do not have that for you. The trick to not feel too disappointed about this is to, again, be empathic. They don't know what's going on with you, what you had to go through just to say 'hi' and the reason the birthday cake didn't look pretty was because you got into a scuffle with the local mafia while you were on the way from the whatever-it-is-they-call-them-shop-that-sells-cake.Not necessarily true but it does make you feel heroic. Which is always awesome.
Delusional. but awesome.
Back to empathy.
Regardless for other people's level of empathy, consider it a gift and talent you should work on. Feel empathy. Be in other people's shoes. It might be loose and stinky but at least you would understand why he or she sucks and actually sympathize. Anybody having to wear that ugly and stinky shoes just *have to* be sucky. Poor soul.
Have empathy. It's good for you.
